I was born in a small village near Suffolk, in England, called Lakenheath, but currently I live in Norwich, a town a bit bigger, in the near Norfolk county. The town has an open mind and its own creative community, nice cafes and a castle! I think that’s all you need to live a good life.
While at university I planned a career as a graphic designer but soon I realized that all those rules and limits made me feel too “restricted” and decided, almost immediately, to switch my focus to illustrations.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that 90% of what I though was graphic design consisted in creating images for the final graphic product, which is also a consistent part of what an illustrator does, a stroke of luck!
Some of the greatest stories ever told originated in Rome. For this reason, as an artist, having the chance to create something based on its history feels like the Holy Grail, furthermore, since Rome is always evolving, this story keeps changing day by day.
When I got the brief, what looked to me as the key point was representing the real Rome, as it appears to the people who live there and not only in its more touristic aspects. Personally, I believe everybody knows that when you want to get the full picture of a city, its culture and its citizens, public transportation is the only way to get it!
